My age (76) is a negative for such major reconstructive foot surgery (should have done it 30 years ago). He recommended a brace; I declined. I'll wait and possibly consider surgery early next year. He was not pushy or upset with my reluctance to follow his recommendations, just smiled with an "oh well" look — a nice guy.”
