Athletic Trainer/Cast Room Tech/Orthopedic Technologist: We are looking for an athletic trainer who is willing to work in multiple roles in a busy orthopedic clinic. This person will initially have a primary role in the cast room and a secondary role as an athletic trainer with the outreach program. This position is expected to grow and change as the candidate becomes more confident in their skills and additional outreach events become available. This will be an evolving and changing position for the athletic trainer as they adapt their clinical skills and helping where the clinic needs them. The doctors believe the musculoskeletal/orthopedic background of a certified athletic trainer is an advantage and a natural fit for the clinic, cast room as well as fitting DME. The clinic expects the clinical ATC to obtain the OTC so the initial cast room hours are necessary to sit for that certification exam. This person will also have opportunities to assist in surgery, therapy in the PT clinic and help in the hallways with the providers during clinic. The full-time access to the providers will allow the ATC to learn more clinical and evaluative skills.  This job will require some weekend hours depending on the needs that week of the clinic or outreach.

The goal of this position is to help with multiple duties in the clinic and help the sports medicine department grow. As the department grows we have plans to increase our availability to the community regarding concussions, as well. The position is a moldable one, as the candidate masters skills and finds a niche or duty they want to explore, they will get to pursue that. It will take some initiative on the part of the candidate to find what they want to explore, and then pursue it with the backing of the clinic, so that it helps the clinic and ATC. Whether it is a certain sport or community outreach or being involved in more therapy… this position can change as the needs of the candidate and clinic change. The athletic trainer is here to help make the clinic more efficient. The ATC will be expected to obtain the Orthopedic Tech Certification through the hours committed to the cast room and other hours required for the exam. This dual credential allows the ATC to become more adept at fitting splints, braces and applying casts. To learn more, please click here.

This position may spend significant time scheduling: diagnostic tests, MRI’s, x-rays, surgeries and other medical procedures.
